About

I’m a graphic designer by profession and a crafter and maker by passion. Since my early years in college all my graphic design projects were accompanied by something created by hand, either painted or screen printed , sewed or bound.

I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to New York City and interned at Martha Stewart’s Weddings Magazine, after graduation I moved to Dallas, Texas and worked at the FOSSIL headquarters as a graphic designer. After a while of that amazing experience, I got an opportunity to move to Toronto, Canada and work for one of the best advertising studio in the maple leaf territory: SID LEE.

It was over 10 years ago, I was living in a beautiful place which name means “the bellybutton of the moon” when my best friend told me she was expecting her first baby. I spent days thinking what would be the best, most thoughtful gift a new mom would need and appreciate. Something with no specific size so the baby could use it from the very first day of his or her life and grow with it, something that could be use for many years and yet so unique and beautiful designed that could be part of priceless memories for both, baby and mother.

That's how I carefully created my first baby blanket.

I moved away from my hometown to the "land of the free and the home of the brave" to learn the arts of graphic design. During this time I didn't just graduated from college but got married, adopted a dog, made everlasting friends and after a three-year waiting, we learned we were expecting a baby! Needless to say, the first thing I made before even knowing the gender was a baby blanket.

It happened on a Monday morning, when I got to hold the most wonderful baby girl in the whole world, we decided that her name would be Nina.

When finally became a family of three, the winds of the north took us to the maple leaf territory, specifically to a city under the name of Toronto in the province of Ontario in a beautiful country that the ascents natives used to called “Kanata”. Is in this amazing place where I created Born on Monday, where I get inspired and get to shared my life with my partner in crime: Edgar, our spirited little daughter and our 7 years old dog named "Fidel".

I welcomed you to our little shop, I hope you find the perfect gift for YOUR special friend who is about to become a parent, or something that you and your little one will treasure for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Miriam Altamira
